Dear Harvey and George:As I'm typing this I'm glancing down at my copy of HAVE YOU THOUGHT OF LEONARD PELTIER LATELY?. It just arrived in the mail, and I hardly know how the put into words my feelings about it. For one thing, it's a stunning physical presentation: the cover, the layout, the paintings and photos all combine to delight the eye without ever losing sight of the book's serious subject matter. I want very much to plunge into its pages like a five-year-old tearing through gift wrap on Christmas morning, but I also want to pause over every page, roll it around in my mind and reflect a while before moving on. Will this fine and valuable volume strike the spark that will ignite the nation's conscience? For Leonard's sake, for the sake of every justice-loving man and woman in this country, I fervently hope so. Perhaps I haven't thought of Leonard Peltier as often as I should have in past years. Now I have no alternative.
May the Creator bring freedom to this brave man and blessings on you both for bringing us his story.
