John Alba
John is a Mexican-American man on death row at the Polunsky unit in Livingston, Texas. He is a good and kind man who is appealing against the death penalty, and is in desperate need of help. He has been on death row for ten years for the shooting of his wife. No one condones this crime, but there were many mitigating circumstances that have never been heard in front of a jury, and so all we are asking for is a chance to open your eyes and hopefully your heart to the situation he is in. His trial has been full of ineffective representation and racial prejudice, and now he needs the support of people like you to help him and his family. Please take the time to write to him at:

I'm just your average Jane Doe, born and bred of a conservative, bourgeoisie family. I'm in my third serious job out of college, have a common law husband and we are fetchingly on our way to realize the American dream. WE KNOW WE'LL WIN, FOR WE HAVE TRUTH, JUSTICE AND THE AMERICAN WAY ON OUR SIDE! THEY CAN'T GET AWAY WITH THIS JUST BECAUSE THEY'RE HIGH-POWERED LAWYERS AND STATESMEN! Three years later, every property deed we once held is in the hands of State lawyers who liquidate everything faster than you can say Janet Reno. All our savings go to support our life on the run and our battle campaigns. A lifetime's reward for years of servitude to the man, gone faster than you can say The Man. But all is not lost, for we know we will eventually win. Our enemies will face justice and we'll gain untold awards for damages sustained. Then POW!! John Doe makes it on the FBI's 10 most wanted list for the high crime of making a threatening telephone call. So we run to Canada but keep up the fight. Just as the Iran Contra scandal breaks, John Doe is thrown in a Canadian prison for his telephone crime. He gets extradited while the Canadian immigration men snicker at the charges. John Doe never comes out of jail, at least not a whole man. On the inside, they take a pickaxe to his brain for what he knows. Lobotomized, here's one rabble-rouser who will trouble the State no more, ha ha. A writer, I get my revenge by self-publishing our book Abolishing Lawyer Tyranny. It tells our true story and proposes our reforms. Later, no longer believing in reforms, I change the name and purpose of our organization: Just Cause for Legal Reform Revolution. I continue to write, rabble rouse, create video zines and rabble rouse some more. As an anarchist/surrealist/mystic activist, I trade in my American dream of picket fence predictability for tinsel hair, sunglasses, punk boots and chains. I remarry (common law). Not learning my lesson, I choose a Latin American revolutionary, Don Fulano. I haven't seen him in a lloooonnnng time, but I wait patiently, in a state of anxiety that fluctuates from mild to frenzied. My lawsuit keeps growing. Now I want: 1. Every person out of U.S. jails and prisons FREE. 2. $80 billion. (What our prison/industrial complex admits to as their take). And I know I'll win! I have truth, justice and the American way on my side!
